He received the Schenley Award for Most Outstanding Canadian in 1959, 1963, 1966, and 1969 and the Schenley Award for Most Outstanding Player in 1963, 1966, and 1969. He played in four Grey Cups, winning three times (1960, 1968, and 1969).
After he retired as a played, he was the head coach for the Toronto Argonauts for two season (1975-76), compiling a 12-18-2 record.
Jackson was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1973.
