Montreal Alouettes head coach Marv Levy will assume role of general manager in addition to coaching duties. Alouettes have obtained permission from the Toronto Argonauts to negotiate with quarterback Joe Theismann. 

(Note: Marv Levy was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2021. Joe Theismann signed with Washington in the NFL in 1974 and played for them until a career ending injury in 1985.)

The 1959 Grey Cup will be played in Toronto, but the exact venue has not been decided. It will be played at either the Canadian National Exhibition Stadium or Varsity Stadium. Also, the annual East-West Shrine All-Star will discontinued.
