Player of the Day: Brian Fryer

Brian Fryer played in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos (1978-85), and Ottawa Rough Riders (1985). 

Fryer played football at the University of Alberta from 1972 to 1975, receiving several college awards  and became the first Canadian to play at a Canadian university to be drafted and signed by a NFL team. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 8th round in 1976. Injured during his rookie season and spending the 1977 season rehabbing on the practice roster, he was released in 1978. He spent the next 8 seasons excelling in the CFL.

 He was inducted into the University of Alberta Hall of Fame in 1983, and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
