Ken Ploen played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for 11 seasons (1957-67). He was All-Western Division quarterback (1957, 1965), All-Western Division defensive back (1959), All-Canadian quarterback (1965) and played on four Grey Cup Champions (1958, 1959, 1961, 1962).

Ploen was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1975, and the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 1984.
